How to get to Warsaw?

BY PLANE

Warsaw is served by two international airports:

  1. Warsaw Chopin Airport – located around 8 kilometres from the city centre. It is served by five bus lines, two of which reach the city centre directly – 175 and night bus N32. A railway connection (Warsaw Airport Train)  with Chopin Airport is also available. If you decide to take a taxi, it is advised to use the licensed taxi services offered at Chopin Airport: Ele Taxi, Sawa Taxi or Super Taxi.
  2. Warsaw Modlin Airport – a smaller airport servicing only budget airlines is situated in Modlin, 35 km from Warsaw, where the easiest way to get to the centre is to take a bus – Modlin Bus (modlinbus.pl ), which operates 24 hours a day. The trip takes around 50 minutes.

BY TRAIN

There are three train stations in Warsaw that provides domestic and international connections.

The conference will take place in Copernicus Science Center – a science-related outreach center located on the bank of the Vistula river in Warsaw.

It is the sole responsibility of the attendee to take care of their visa requirements. Attendees who require an entry visa must allow sufficient time for the application procedure. Attendees should contact the nearest embassy or consulate to determine the appropriate timing of their visa applications.

The letter of invitation does not financially obligate the conference organizers in any way, nor does it guarantee an entry visa to Poland. All expenses incurred in relation to the conference are the sole responsibility of the delegate.

The conference organizers  will not directly contact embassies and consulates on behalf of delegates.

Practical information

Public transport in Warsaw

You can check public transport connection in Warsaw using online platforms like Google Maps or Jak Dojadę.

Please note:

All public transportation tickets can be purchased at ZTM points, in some newspaper kiosks and at ticket machines located in the metro stations, bus stops, as well as on some buses and trams. You can pay either with cash or by card. Tickets can be used for all means of transport. You can select from 20-, 75- and 90-minute tickets. Longer-term options include one-day and weekend tickets.

Tickets must be validated immediately after boarding a bus or tram, or at the gates leading to metro platforms. Luggage and animals almost always can be taken on public transport free of charge.

Currency
The Polish currency unit is zloty (PLN), divided into 100 groszy. Current exchange rate on: www.nbp.pl

Most foreign currencies can be easily exchange either in banks or in private exchange offices (“kantor” in Polish). Foreign currency (cash) is not acceptable in shops.

Shops
The common opening hours are 10.00 am  – 7.00 pm Monday to Friday.
​​​​​​On Saturdays shops are mostly closed at 2 p.m. and generally closed on Sundays.​​​​​
Payment in shops: by cash (Polish money, some accept €) or debit/credit cards.

Debit/credit cards
Debit/credit cards accepted in Poland: Visa, MasterCard, American Express. Cash withdrawal machines, restaurants, car rental agencies and most shops accept all major debit/credit cards.

Post offices
Most post offices are open Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 4.00 pm and closed on Saturdays and Sundays. Post boxes are red and post is usually collected twice daily. Stamps can be bought only at post offices.

Banks
Most banks are open Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 6.00 pm and are closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
