Tilman Schmoll obtained his PhD in 2011 from the Medical University of Vienna, where he conducted research on functional extensions of OCT. After a one-year postdoc in Vienna, he joined Carl Zeiss Meditec as a Scientist at their Dublin, California site. At ZEISS, he explored advanced imaging technologies and contributed to the development of OCT Angiography and Swept Source OCT. In 2018, he returned to his alma mater to set up the ZEISS Lab, a translational research laboratory funded by ZEISS. The ZEISS Lab works closely with clinicians and researchers from different disciplines to explore new opportunities and challenges in OCT imaging.
