Claude Boccara

Bio
Claude Boccara, professor and director of research emeritus at ESPCI-Paris with Pierre-Gilles de Gennes (Nobel Prize winner) and Jacques Prost has been involved in light-matter interactions for both fundamental and applied purposes and have introduced new instruments and methods mostly limited by physical laws. Among these methods, new microscopies have been developed to increase the axial and lateral resolutions well below the sub-wavelength limits (picometers axial and nanometers lateral). Understanding the physics of small objects has therefore been one of my goals. Recently, optical measurement approaches pushed to their ultimate limits have opened up new fields of application ranging from optical detection of gravitational waves (VIRGO-LIGO project) to 3-D imaging of scattering media (such as biological tissues) .
He has published more than 400 scientific papers (ISI / Boccara A* or Boccara C) in international journals and have an h index around 60.
