Andrew M. Rollins

Bio
Andrew M. Rollins is the Leonard Case Jr. Professor of Engineering at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) where he holds appointments in the departments of Biomedical Engineering and Medicine. He was awarded the Ph.D. degree in 2000 for his work developing and translating real-time optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging. He is a Fellow of AIMBE, SPIE, and Optica. His research specialty is in the field of biomedical optics and optical imaging, especially OCT, including optics and instrumentation, signal processing and analysis, image analysis and visualization, and clinical, pre-clinical, and basic applications. Current major projects include intracardiac OCT imaging and spectroscopy to aid catheter ablation of arrhythmias, development of optical imaging of the embryonic heart to study congenital heart defects, and imaging methods to characterize mechanical properties of ocular structures. He is founding Faculty Director of the Center for Engineering Action at CWRU, providing students with opportunities to participate in multi-disciplinary team-based design projects focused on advancing the public good through local and global partnerships.
